What is typically involved in implementing a software application? Zuna utilizes a custom approach to implementing our software solutions called FUELED. The approach was built on years of experience implementing software solutions in many different industries. While there is no failsafe, 100% guaranteed-to-work approach, the FUELED approach presents a much higher success rate than other approaches. So what is FUELED? A brief description of FUELED is as follows:
F – Formulate
I’d like to do accordion drop-downs for each of these points with the drop-down showing the content below.ERP applications are complex applications which often have thousands of configuration options and limitless customizations possibilities. Coupling this with the complex and varying needs of organizations, insufficient or improper discovery in the early stages of an implementation can lead to disaster. Formulate is the process in which our team gains a high-level understanding of the clients needs and assembles.
U – Understand
Who knows their business better than the people within the organization. It is critical that our team documents the business processes and maps these processes to proposed solutions utilizing the soon-to-be implemented software application. This process can often yield added benefit to organizations as it affords them a chance to review and refine their current processes. Understanding the intricacies of each clients business prior to commencing with the implementation of the software.
E – Estimate
How is the most important question, “How much will it cost me?”, answered? Although software quotes and service estimates are provided throughout the sales cycle it is not until this point that an accurate estimate or cost certainty amount for the actual project can be provided. Sufficient requirements have been gathered, key personnel have been interviewed, risk has been mitigated, scope has been defined, limitations have been agreed to and the final step before the actual implementation can begin, project costing, can be completed.
L – Learn
No application runs itself, especially not an ERP application. What happens when the implementation team moves on to another client? Our approach emphasizes a strong learning component in which both daily end-users, occasional users and reporting users are trained on the use of the ERP application. This approach encourages client-ownership of the application but more importantly, it minimizes the long-term support requirements/costs thereby increasing self-sufficiency within the organization.
E – Execute
With the implementation plan completed and the costs finalized the actual implementation can commence. Our focus during the execution phase is to engage the end-users through both the basic and advance setup and operation, which further augments end-user knowledge and familiarity with the new application.
D – Deliver
Most software consulting companies consider the completion of the Execute phase to be the end of the project, but who determines this and how is it determined. Our approach yields a final, but extremely critical phase to the implementation project. It is important that the project be evaluated based on the goals and success factors defined at the start of the project and that any outstanding issues or concerns be addressed to ensure the agreed to solution is delivered.
The FUELED approach provides us guiding principles for a successful implementation, which combined with proven methodologies and tools, such as Microsoft’s Sure Step methodology, result in highly successful implementations.
